Station 4: Coil & Storage Area
At station 3, you find yourself in our Coil Storage Area, where raw material for the framing process is housed. We stock large coils of galvanized steel in various widths and gauges to produce different stud sizes. Each coil is high-quality structural steel with a protective zinc coating. Importantly, all our steel coils and the studs produced from them meet ICC-ES certification standards, meaning they have been evaluated for compliance with building codes and quality requirements. This certification gives assurance that the cold-formed steel framing will perform as expected structurally and is approved for use in commercial construction.
Beyond quality, this area highlights a key sustainability aspect of CFS’s recycled content and recyclability. Our steel coils contain a minimum of 76% recycled material. Using steel with recycled content reduces the environmental footprint of our panels. Moreover, any scrap steel generated, for instance, small punchouts or lip cuts, is collected and recycled. None of our steel waste goes to landfill – it all goes back into the steel supply chain.
