TCM Enterprises is proud to have played a critical role in the successful completion of the Institute for Integrative & Innovative Research, and we are thankful to have collaborated with CDI Constructors to bring this exciting and innovative project to life. The Institute for Integrative & Innovative Research is a visionary 144,000-square-foot marvel, designed by the collaborative teams of Hufft and HGA Architects. With this facility, the University of Arkansas will spearhead breakthroughs across five pivotal research domains aimed at addressing today’s major challenges. TCM’s scope of work included metal stud framing, exterior sheathing with an integrated weather-resistant barrier, insulation, drywall, ceilings, and interior specialty finishes, but it was TCM’s approach of utilizing prefabricated wall panels that set the project apart. This innovative construction method allowed for faster installation, better coordination, and a higher-quality product with fewer personnel and materials. By installing 250 wall panels in just 23 days, TCM reduced the construction timeline and increased efficiency, even in tight spaces and on a busy campus. Just-in-time delivery schedules were key to maintaining efficiency. Trucks carrying prefabricated panels were loaded, sequenced, and scheduled to arrive just in time to be unloaded and installed directly off the trailer and into place. The integration of a water-resistive barrier and air barrier system added long-term durability, while our rigorous quality control process ensured every detail was met to specification. Despite significant challenges, including limited site access, tight working conditions, and scheduling complexities due to multiple trades and heavy equipment in a crowded space, TCM overcame these hurdles with innovative problem-solving, strategic planning, adaptability, and collaboration. TCM’s commitment to these values helped create a truly transformative building that will drive future breakthroughs for years to come.
